  1. 1983

    The first chair

    Her journey began as an assistant in a Newport Beach salon.

  2. Five years

    Owner

    Within five years, she had built a successful clientele, become a platform artist, and purchased the salon from its original owner.

  3. Fifteen years

    Leader

    She operated the business for fifteen years, leading a team of more than twenty stylists, before opening a more intimate salon of six chairs.

  4. The last decade

    Collaborator

    Alongside celebrity wigmaker Rob Pickens, she has colored and finished wigs for an extraordinary roster of clients and helped create the signature PATSY hair topper.

  5. Today

    Founder

    She is building Chair., connecting beauty professionals with available salon chairs, wherever their work takes them.

Why I started
Chair.

Dear friends,

As a stylist, I know how much goes into building a clientele and making a living behind the chair. A good place to work, people you can count on, and the freedom to take your craft beyond your everyday salon make all the difference. Since my first day behind a salon chair in 1983, that chair has taken me around the world to places I never imagined this career would lead. Trends have changed, and tools have too, but one thing never did: the best moments of my career came from the people I met along the way.

I founded this business with my daughter, Peri, and our dear friend Charlie, on a simple belief: good work begins with good relationships. Our mission is to create real connections, bring talented people together, and help those shaping the beauty industry find inspiration, innovation, and new friends, wherever their work takes them.

We are building Chair. with the everyday needs of stylists and salon owners in mind, and we want your input as we go. Tell us what’s working, what’s missing, and what would make your workday easier. We’re always listening. Whether you run a salon or carry your craft from place to place, there is a Chair. waiting for you. Anywhere.
